Note on my name
I was born Georgia Simson however for many years I used my married name, Morrissey. I have now returned to using my maiden name of Simson.
My approach
I value happiness. I believe you should aim for a separation that leaves you happy (or at least content, and heading towards happy!). I aim to minimise your stress and help you separate in a healthy way.
My qualifications
I have a Bachelor of Laws, a Bachelor of Arts, a Collaborative Law Certification, and a Certificate in Life Coaching. I hold a current Practicing Certificate in Victoria and am entered on the High Court Register of Practitioners. I am a member of the Law Institute of Victoria and the Family Law Section of the Law Council of Australia.
I understand and I care
I have been a Family Lawyer for many years. I love my job and I work hard at being good at it. I have assisted hundreds of clients to separate their assets and create a healthy routine for their children after separation. I can help you with: dividing complex asset structures; multiple properties, businesses and family trusts; dividing debt; deciding who keeps the house(s) and how superannuation is divided; designing the best arrangement for your children to spend time with important adults in their lives; children having difficult relationships with a parent; issues with mental health, drug abuse, sexual abuse or family violence; and involvement with the Department of Health and Human Services.
I bring my life experience to my job. I have lived and worked in Shepparton, Melbourne, Healesville and South Korea. I have children. I have been married, separated, divorced and re-partnered. I have worked in business, hospitality and education, taught English as a second language and worked as a lawyer in private practice and community law. I have travelled in Europe and Asia. I have experience with neurodivergence, and I am part of the LGBTQI+ community. Each of my experiences has taught me to value a different perspective.
I grew up on an apple and pear Orchard in Ardmona, about 15 minutes outside Shepparton in Victoria. I moved to Melbourne to go to University and then lived and travelled overseas for a few years. I wanted to bring my children up in the country, so I moved back to Shepparton when my eldest was about to start school. I now live in Healesville. I love the bush and often go camping in Summer. I also like animals, so my children find it pretty easy to convince me to get lots of pets and to rescue any injured animal or bird we find.
